World's tallest man saves dolphins

You'll never read another story like this one. The world's tallest man has put his extraordinary 106 centimetre (42 inch) long arms to animal tarian use by reaching down the throats of two dolphins to retrieve large pieces of foam stuck in their stomachs.

Bao Xishun is a herdsman from inner Mongolia. He was born in 1951 and measures a whopping 2.361 metres (7 feet 8.95 inches).

He was called in after the dolphins swallowed plastic used around their aquarium pool in Fushun, north east China. Their veterinarian had attempted to remove the offending plastic using instruments, but the attempts failed when the dolphins' stomachs contracted around the tools. It seems a organic approach was more to their liking.

Apparently, some small bits of plastic remain in their stomachs, but the veterinarians say the animals will be able to digest them. wholesale nfl jerseys The BBC has a short video on this page of the "operation", showing people holding one dolphin's beak open while Xishun slides his arm down its throat.

This story is obviously pretty unique, but we've written about related issues before: see Seabirds ingest bellyfuls of plastic pollution and Rising tide of micro plastics plaguing the seas.

So how far have you gone to save a living creature? I once warmed up a frozen and half dead squirrel in New York City with my bare hands and got bitten for my lifesaving act of kindness.

I once saved a seagull entangled in fishing line about 20 feet off the water surface. the line was wrapped around a number of tree branches and the lure just happened to be hanging in between trees. The seagull had caught its foot in the lure and was hanging upsidedown. I climbed up the tree with a pair of pliers, cut the lines and tried to gently lower the bird to the water (unfortuneatly it fell the last ten feet). The lure was still in its foot at this time and the lure snagged on a rock cage basket retaining wall. I climbed back down the tree and snipped the hook on the lure, freeing the bird.

forgive me, but folksy personal anecdotes, although popular in many publications, have no place in new scientist, imho. i never want to see things like "subatomic particles known as neutrons" or any suchlike, there is no need, people get more out of the the facts, look it up if really troubled, or interested.

This summer I rescued and nursed a baby vole for a week, getting up at two hour intervals to dropper feed him. Since then he's learned basic programming and is now working for Diebold, which explains your last election results. That will not cheap nfl jerseys change. I save many animals each day because I have cats that catch these animals.
